In his work Martijn van Hennik (Rotterdam, 1967) shows his ideas about our surroundings, or the human landscape.
He sees the human landscape as ‘an artificial landscape, sometimes planned, sometimes random, often in between. It is functional, absurd, surreal and sometimes beautiful and comforting. It has also cultural meaning: it reflects our ideals, values and tastes. It shows our attempt to get a grip on the world, an effort that becomes the world itself.’
